Fitness tips, get in shape for cheer?

I need a six pack:)
Also i’m not fat or anything i only way 100 pounds and im turning 14 but i want muscle. I have bigger thighs than i would like and also calves so is there specific excersises that help get muscle there? and also i dont have a lot of space to run but i could just jog throughout the house if that would help? I also already do pushups and crunches so anything else?

hey! i’m a cheerleader too:) try cardio for your thighs and limiting all junk food. for your stomach, i recommend these conditioning excersizes my allstar team uses, they are laying on your back and lifting your legs off the ground. i know, it really burns but you’ll get abs. i am 15 years old and i weigh 83-86, but i’m stronger than i look since i run 4 miles everyday:) good luck!

6-pack Abs by July 4th!

6-pack Abs by July 4th!

Its not too late, you can still get 6-pack abs in time for beach weather this summer! Getting 6-pack abs is quite simple but requires a lot of hard work and dedication. Two things you need to do to get 6-pack abs. The first is to do ab exercises but that isnt as important as you might think. The second, and most important thing you need to do to get 6-pack abs is to lose weight.

Lets quickly cover the losing weight part. Remember, this is the most important thing to get 6-pack abs. To lose weight you need to eat less and do more cardio. I have lots of videos on nutrition and weight loss, you can view them by clicking here:

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=59B036EB66B488D3

A valuable tool in helping you lose weight is a free iPod touch/iPhone application called “Lose It!” by FitNow If you are not good at reading nutritional labels or good with numbers then this application will really help you lose your weight on schedule. This application lets you enter your current weight, your target weight, and how strict you are willing to be with your diet. You then enter how much cardio you do and it gives you a daily calorie allocation. You then can enter everything you eat and make sure that you keep on track for your weight loss goal.

If you dont have an iPhone or Lose It is not available in your country then try the free “Hackers Diet” website. You can sign up for a free account at:

https://www.fourmilab.ch/cgi-bin/HackDiet/

Now lets talk about the ab exercises. Here is a good little workout that takes less than 10 minutes and I would do it 3 times a week.

crunch, as many as you can do
bicycle, as many as you can do
hanging leg raise, as many as you can do
rest and redo 3x

Thats it. As I said, getting 6-pack abs is quite simple but takes a lot of hard work especially because of the cardio and strict nutrition required. The cool thing is that by losing weight you can make a rapid and amazing body transformation! Adding muscle takes years to have a noticable effect but by getting 6-pack abs you can go from invisible to show-stopper in a handfull of weeks! And please make sure to take “before pictures” so when you get your 6-pack abs you can email them to me so I can put them on the scoobysworkshop.com “success stories” page on my website! I want YOU to get ripped by July 4th.

Anyone can be healthier, have more energy, sleep better, and feel better about themselves through bodybuilding. Bodybuilding doesn’t have to be expensive or take a lot of time, gyms are great but home workouts can save you time and money. A cheap dumbbell set from a garage sale or walmart is all it takes to get started with your home workouts.

For more information on home workouts, please see my free website (no advertising either):

Nutrition is key to being able to add muscle! I cover nutrition on my website, if thats not detailed enough for you I have reviewed and recommended some excellent books:

Fitness tips for overweight, unfit person with bad knee?

I’ve been diagnosed with a Bakers cyst and a possible meniscal tear. I’m waiting to see the specialist and have an MRI but this may take months to come through.
I’ve been told that I should avoid weight bearing activities, and keep the leg elevated as much as possible. I can’t strap the knee because the cyst is already compromising the veins so I have swelling right down to the foot. I was offered crutches, but don’t fancy them, but I know I may have to give in.
I’m looking for ideas for exercises that I can do to try and keep some strength and mobility in my leg, and also to stop the rest of my body in some sort of shape, if I don’t walk regularly my back tends to seize up. I know that water exercise would be good, but we live way out in the sticks, and the nearest public pool is about an hour and a half away (I’m trying to persuade my husband that this is the perfect excuse to get a pool, but he isn’t agreeing yet…..something about having no money!)
And before anyone says it…yes I know that these are questions for my Doctor and Physio, yes I am seeing them again in the coming week. All I’m doing is looking for ideas, it may give me questions that I hadn’t thought of, or some one may come up with a brilliant idea.
Thanks for the tips so far, I know walking is good, but that is a definite no no at the moment

Meniscal tear victim, here. Recovering from medial and lateral meniscectomy 3 wks ago.
I cannot sit still. I walk everyday. In fact, started walking the day after my surgery. Many say this is bad, but I cannot sit still. These are the following exercises that I employ on a day to day basis. You may pick and choose accordingly:

*swimming laps

*moderate squats and lunges

*stationery bicycle

*dead lifts

*leg raises

*stationery squat in a seated position with back against the wall for a minute–3 sets.

Hope this helps, and yes, I am recovering quickly.

Good luck.

I’m looking to do a very challenging mountain walk in Sept.Any diet/ fitness tips?

I’m 34,in reasonable shape & walk in the mountains as often as I can(not as often as i’d like) lol
Looking for any advice as to diet (I’m a veggie by the way) and exercises I should be undertaking now. I have approx 16weeks to get mountain fit!!! : /
Thanks

Long walks in hilly terrain sounds like a great way to prepare. Will you be carrying a backpack? If so, work on your upper torso too. Do lots of stretches, and some back exercises, and start carrying a day pack on your walks. Make sure you are going up and down hills to work those leg muscles.

As for diet, just eat a variety of foods, and be sure to eat protein sources. Keep hydrated, and you’ll do great.

I used to backpack a lot (and was vegetarian) and the weight of a heavy pack was always a killer. I dried a lot of my own vegetables and used those in cooked meals. You can make dried tofu jerky, and if you slightly cook thinly sliced vegies in hot water, then dry them in the sun, they store nicely and make healthy, tasty additions to meals. Those store bought dried foods taste pretty bad and often have a lot of preservatives in them.

Going for daily walks even in your town is a good thing. Just keep using your leg muscles and the strength will develop.
